On February 25, 2025, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS) office in Israel released a film shot on November 24-25, 2024, featuring a diverse group of activists—Arab/Palestinian and Jewish citizens of Israel, deeply committed to political and social justice—gathered at the RLS offices in Tel Aviv. Featured activists include Huda Abu Obeid, Dr. Yali Hashash, Aya Zinatey, Omer Elad, Amjad Shbita, and Oren Ziv.
In this film, these activists reflect on the nearly 14 months since the war began, offering moving and inspiring personal testimonies. The project was driven by a desire to provide a platform for personal-political stories that often go unheard. It captures reflections of grief, struggle, hope, and resilience from individuals who have endured nearly a year and a half of war yet continue to hope for a better future.
The film’s title, Voices from Within, reflects its approach. The questions asked include: Where were you on the morning of October 7th? What was your experience in the first days of the war? Did your beliefs change during the war? Have your relationships with others shifted? What causes you the most despair and frustration? Can you envision a different reality, and what needs to happen for that to become possible?
As the creators note: “Tragically, this film was made more than a year after the war began, but violence, aggression, and uncertainty continue to shape its backdrop, a stark reminder of the war’s lasting impact on individuals and communities.”
